I’ve discussed how content is key to SEO. But publishing your own content only goes so far. You need positive coverage, published by others, to establish all important credibility as part of SEO, online marketing, and just plain promoting your business.
Online reviews are a double whammy
Online reviews provide two huge boosts for your marketing. Most people trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations. And fewer and fewer people would do select a local business without checking their online reviews, first. It makes sense – if you’re going to do business with someone, you want to make sure they’ll do a good job, first.
Online reviews are also key to SEO. They provide written evidence that you do a good job, which search engines like Google and Bing use to establish your business’ credibility.
People use online reviews, whether they know it or not
Not everyone checks all your online review profiles before doing business with you. But if they found you online, they used online reviews without even realizing it. Online reviews power search results, especially for local businesses. So if a prospective client finds you online, then online reviews are probably part of the reason they found you in the first place.
The best part? Online reviews are easy
It doesn’t take a lot of work to collect positive online reviews. Just do a good job for your clients (I assume you already are…) and follow up consistently, asking for feedback in the form of online reviews. This shouldn’t take too much time, especially if you focus on automating your online marketing.
